FESTIVE LED LIGHTS EXCHANGED ARE NOT PART OF CSA RECALL
CAMBRIDGE, Ont. - Cambridge and North Dumfries Hydro Inc. held a Festive Light Exchange on Saturday, November 12 for residents and businesses of the City of Cambridge and Township of North Dumfries to help them take a first step towards energy conservation.
Approximately 3,000 participants exchanged sets of traditional holiday lights for Festive Indoor/Outdoor LED lights. The LED holiday light strings have 35 bulbs and use only 2.5 watts for the entire string compared to the traditional lights that generally used 5 watts per bulb on a string of 25 bulbs!
In the last few weeks, the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) initiated a recall of LED Holiday Light strings distributed across Canada by a number of utilities and retailers. The lights exchanged by Cambridge and North Dumfries Hydro Inc. is not part of this CSA recall.
We would like to thank all participants of our Festive Light exchange for making it a huge success and for their commitment to energy conservation. John Grotheer, President of Hydro stated, “…energy conservation will come naturally if each of us thinks about how we use energy and improves our habits. And it doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice comfort to be energy wise. Switching to energy efficient LED festive lights is a great example.”
