LOCAL HYDRO BRINGS “COOL SHOPS” TO COMMUNITY

CAMBRIDGE, Ont. - Cambridge and North Dumfries Hydro Inc. continue on their quest to bring new innovative energy saving programs to their customers. Last year, the local hydro company introduced their new calling card EarthWiseTM for delivering energy conservation tools, education and programs to help customers and business save energy and save money.

Today EarthWise TM is proud to announce Clean Air Foundation’s Cool Shops program is coming to town. The Cool Shops program is an energy efficiency program targeted towards small commercial businesses.

The Cool Shop program is simple. A Cool Shop professional will attend on-site at eligible businesses and conduct a free on-site energy audit, provide recommendations on how to save money, educate about time-of-use rates, provide discounts for energy efficient products and provide instant energy savings through the installation of free compact fluorescent lights to get small business owners started.

President John Grotheer announced, “…the goal of Cool Shops is to help owners and operators of small businesses reduce energy and improve their bottom line. Grotheer stated, “it can be a real challenge for the owner/operator of a business to find time for energy saving education and programs, so Cool Shops will come to them to deliver this valuable program.

The three local electric utilities in the Waterloo Region worked in concert to bring Cool Shops and all it has to offer to electricity customers in the Region. Grotheer was pleased “that all three electric utilities in the Region shared a mutual vision of bringing this energy conservation tool to our customers”.

Cambridge and North Dumfries Hydro Inc. will be holding a formal launch of the Cool Shops program in early May. In the meantime businesses interested in the program are welcome to contact their local utility to get further details on eligibility.
