CAMBRIDGE AND NORTH DUMFRIES HYDRO CELEBRATE VOLUNTEERISM PROMOTES CONSERVATION CULTURE

CAMBRIDGE, Ont. - Cambridge and North Dumfries Hydro Inc. are taking the time to acknowledge and thank their volunteers this week. This week is National Volunteer Week. On Wednesday April 18th hydro is holding their “1st Annual All Star Volunteers Breakfast.”

Last year hydro created a formal Volunteerism Program to recognize the efforts and energy of volunteers that donate their personal time to participate in company sponsored events that benefit the communities. For every hour of time donated to Volunteering, an employee received a “Star of Appreciation”.

“The results for the first year of the program are phenomenal”, said John Grotheer, President and CEO of hydro. It is the generosity of our volunteers that enable us to build better, stronger, healthier communities. I am proud to report that 48 volunteers contributed 589 hours of their personal time. When you consider our employee complement is 82 - those are outstanding results!”

Grotheer confirmed, “the creation of a formal Volunteerism Program definitely helped us to promote conservation and build a conservation culture in our communities over the past year. With the help of volunteers we held Conservation Initiatives and events including Energy Shows, Speaking Engagements and Workshops, a Grade 5 Conservation Pilot with the Waterloo Regional Public School Board, promoted energy efficiency with our all “LED Lit” Santa Parade float, Tree Plantings, Adopt-A-Road, United Way, and other community events.

Grotheer noted, “National volunteer week is an opportunity for each of us to pause and celebrate the energy and commitment of our volunteers. It is their strength of character that helps us deliver operational excellence in our communities!”
