Residential Initiatives
At Cambridge and North Dumfries Hydro Inc. we are passionate about delivering tips, tools and education through EarthWise to help our customers conserve energy and save money.
We believe that in order to cultivate a conservation culture in our community we need to educate and communicate good information to every customer class. To be successful we need all customers to become actively engaged in cultivating good habits in how and when they use energy.

Energy Saving Tips
Look for our Energy Saving Tips frequently published in the local paper and included here on our website. They provide you with common sense ideas about how to save energy without compromising your comfort.
Open Letters to Customers
We have increased the number of customer communications published in the local papers to help our customers become aware of energy issues in our community and our province. These letters are designed to increase customer awareness of current energy matters.
Bill Messages and Inserts about Conservation
Watch for energy saving messages on your bills and bill inserts with energy saving coupons. This is a great tool for us to use in order to provide all of our customers with information about current programs or energy saving tips specific to the time of year.
Solar Water Heater Incentive
This program has now come to a close. We offered a financial incentive to any Cambridge and North Dumfries Hydro Inc. customer that had an electric water heater, if they installed a Solar Water Heater. The program was administered through the Residential Energy Efficiency Program (REEP). Call them at 519-744-9799 for information on any other conservation incentives they may be offering.
Ground Source (Geo-Thermal) Heating/Cooling System Incentive
We wanted our customers to embrace leading edge technology that reap good energy savings and financial savings. This program has now come to a close. We offered a financial incentive to any Cambridge and North Dumfries Hydro Inc. customer that installed a Ground Source (Geo-Thermal) Heating/Cooling System. The program was administered for us through the Residential Energy Efficiency Program (REEP). Home Energy Audits
If you ever wondered how energy efficient your home is – now is the time to get the answer. EarthWise have partnered with the Residential Energy Efficiency Program (REEP) and they will deliver a home energy efficiency audit to you, as a customer of Cambridge and North Dumfries Hydro Inc. Having your home audited will help identify areas where you could reap the benefits of saving energy and money, sometimes by implementing some very simple changes. The onsite energy audit includes a blower door test to determine where you may have issues with air leakage. For a limited time you may qualify for a reduced cost for an audit.
